    3. Russellville Weekly Rustler, Friday, June 28, 1912 John A. Hodges, aged sixty-two years and eight months, died at his home in Decatur Monday morning at 3:20, death being due to a cancer of the throat from which the deceased had been a sufferer for the past several months. Deceased was born in St. Louis County and came to Cole County with his parents when a boy of six years. He was married to Miss Rebecca Scrivner to which union eight children were born, all of whom survive with the widow. They are Mrs. Henry Enloe, Freeman, Mo.; Mrs. G.D. Shadwick, Enon; Mrs. Hattie Goff, Jefferson City; Mrs. R.B. Scott, Elston; Mrs. A.D. Wallers, Scotts Station and Allen, Jasper and Ernest Hodges, all of Jefferson City. Deceased is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Nan Barlow, Jefferson City; Mrs. Mildred Slote, Miller County and Gilbert Hodges, St. Clair County. He is also mourned by a long list of friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Enloe Cemetery west of town, after which the remains were laid to rest.
