Russellville Weekly Rustler, Friday, June 14, 1912 Uncle Pinckney Miller, the first male white child born in Miller County and for whom the county is named, is seriously ill at his home in Olean. A report from his physician, Dr. W.S. Allee, at 5:30 Thursday afternoon stated that Mr. Miller was no better, but holding his own. He is one of the oldest and best known men in Miller County and his many friends hope for his speedy recovery. Russellville Weekly Rustler, Friday, June 21, 1912 Pinckney S. Miller, the first male white child born in Miller County and for whom the county was named, died at his home in Olean Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock after an illness of a short duration of old age and a complication of diseases. Deceased was 85 years, 2 months and 26 days old. Mr. Miller was born March 23rd, 1827. In 1848 he was first married to Miss Lucy Ann McKenzie to which union seven children were born, six daughters and one son, five of the daughters survive. His first wife departed this life twenty years ago and he was remarried to Miss Ceilia S. Powell on May 30th, 1899, who also survives. The surviving children are Mrs. L.D. Atkinson, Olean; Mrs. Ben. Hines, Spring Garden; Mrs. W.M. Long, Rock Enon; Mrs. Z.O. Bacon, Eugene and Mrs. Samuel Starling of Olean. Besides the children deceased is survived by twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian Church, vice-president of the Miller County Exchange Bank and prominent in other business and social circles of Olean. He was also numbered among the best known and most highly respected citizens of Miller County. Funeral services will be held at Olean today (Friday) at 1:00 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Edmund Wilkes, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery four miles south of Olean.
