Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser Sam F. Pierce, 73, of 316 N. Chestnut St., Eldon died Monday, June 26, 1989 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born Jan. 29, 1916 in Miller County to James and Frona Stark Pierce. On Dec. 3, 1944 he was married in Eugene to Stella E. Ekstam, who survives at the home. Mr. Pierce was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a machine operator for Allis-Chalmers Combines in Independence before retiring in 1983. He moved to Eldon from Kansas City that year. Mr. Pierce was a member of the Oak Street Church of Christ in Eldon and the Steel Workers local in Kansas City. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dennis Pierce of Eldon; a brother, Joe Pierce of Independence; two sister, Mae Pauk of Marthasville and Elsie Ekstam of Eugene; and two granddaughters. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Street Church of Christ with Bro. Jim Medlock officiating. Burial will be in the Eugene Cemetery under the direction of Griswold-Kays Funeral Home of Eldon.
