The Springfield News Leader, Saturday, February 3, 2007 Loraine "Lari" Tatum Portnoff, 85, of Nixa, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 1, 2007, at 12:23 p.m. in the Nixa Christian Health Care, where she resided. Lari was born in Springfield, Mo., on January 19, 1922, to William A. Tatum and Grace Ferguson Tatum. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Rev. Eural Tatum, Tulsa, Okla., Robert Tatum, Muskogee, Okla., and Richard Tatum, Springfield, Mo. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Schmidly, of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; three sisters, Helen Ramsey, Springfield, Mo., Kathryn Presley, Republic, Mo., and Sarah Dameron, Nixa, Mo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Lari graduated from Senior (Central) High School, Springfield, Mo., in 1940. Being an avid bowler, she was later made President of the Women's Bowling Association. In her later years, Lari went to work for Wal-Mart. Lari was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God for many years. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She will be missed by everyone. Donations may be made to Nixa Christian Health Care. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007, in the funeral home.
