    3. Obituary: Unknown Publication Mrs. Elsie Shannon, 71, Centertown, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Community Hospital where she had been a patient since Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the New Hope Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Shannon was born Aug. 21, 1888, in Cole County, daughter of Charles and Mary Hudson Taggart. She attended rural schools at Marion. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. She was associate matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Jamestown Chapter, a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the New Hope Church, and of the Royal Neighbors of Jefferson City. Mrs. Shannon is survived by her husband, David Shannon, whom she married March 17, 1909; a daughter, Mrs. John V. Hall of near Marion; and six brothers, Paul A. Taggart, Boonville Road, and Delbert C. Taggart, 212 ½ Bolivar St., both of Jefferson City, Edward, Floyd, Herman and William Taggart, all of Marion. note: one brother should be Delmar C. Taggart not Delbert ( per Doris Taggart) Obituary: Unknown Publication Gaye Alta Rees, 77, Centertown, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City. She was born Sept. 1, 1909, at Marion, a daughter of David and Elsie Taggart Shannon. Her father of Jefferson City survives. On July 16, 1965, she was married to Ralph Rees, who survives of the home. She was employed as a bookkeeper with the Missouri State Fuel Tax Division of the Missouri Department of Revenue, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church north of Centertown and the Women’s Missionary Union of the church. She was a graduate of Centertown High School. Mrs. Rees was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star 496, Jefferson City. She also was past district deputy grand matron, 31st District, and a member of the Past Matron’s Club of Jefferson City. She also was member of the W.H.O. Club, Marion. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel, California, with the Rev. Billy Potter officiating. Burial will be at the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. note: Gaye died 21 December 1986 (per Doris Taggart) Obituary: Unknown Publication Clem Taggart, 76, Centertown, died Thursday afternoon at Memorial Community Hospital of an apparent heart attack. He was born April 22, 1910, at Marion, a son of Edward and Dosia Fuget Taggart. He was married May 9, 1936, to Helen Swan, who survives at the home. He was employed as a steamboat captain with Wood Brothers Barge Lines and the Corps of Engineers. He was also a car salesman. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Centertown, and the NARSE of Jefferson City. Other survivors include: one son, Gary Taggart, Centertown; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Bowlin Funeral Chapel, California, with the Rev. Richard Bix and the Rev. Larry Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, north of Centertown, under the direction of the Bowlin Funeral Home, California. Memorials can be made to the New Hope Baptist Church. note: Clem Taggart died 2 April 1987 (per Doris Taggart) Obituary: Unknown Publication Herman Tagart, 89, Marion, died Thursday at Charles E. Still Hospital (Jefferson City). He was born Sept. 15, 1897, at Marion, a son of C.D. and Mary Hutson Taggart. He was married Dec. 24, 1920, to Vada Inglish, who died March 7, 1965. He was married Dec. 1967, to Josephine Medlin, who survives at the home. He was a farmer and attended the New Hope Baptist Church. Other survivors include: three daughters, Mary Lou Luadzers, Jefferson City, Norma Earlene Combs, Missoula, Mont., and Joan Kuran, Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One son, Guy Taggart, preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1973. Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Bowlin Funeral Chapel in California with the Rev. Richard Blix officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, north of Centertown. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Hope Baptist Church. note: Herman Tagart died 25 September 1986 (per Doris Taggart) Obituary: Jefferson City News Tribune/Daily Capital News Paul A. Taggart, 80, of 615 Boonville Rd., died Tuesday morning at Memorial Community Hospital. He was born March 5, 1903, at Marion, the son of Charles D. and Mary Hudson Taggart. He was married Nov. 27, 1932, at Jefferson City, to Ruth Peeper, who survives of the home. He attended Jefferson City Public Schools and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 2. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and was employed with the Missouri Power and Light Co., for 37 years until his retirement in 1978. Other survivors include: two sons, Paul Richard Taggart, Florissant, and C. Frank Taggart, 136 Boonville Rd.; one brother, Herman Taggart, Marion; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Buescher Memorial Home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Jerrol Boehmer officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association. Visitation at the Buescher Memorial Home will be from 4-8 p.m. today. note: Paul Taggart died 15 March 1983 (per Doris Taggart)
