Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, August 1966 Funeral services for Miss Ethel Spearman, retired educator, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) at the First Christian Church in Iberia. Miss Spearman died Monday at Memorial Community Hospital, Jefferson City. She was born May 7, 1895, at Iberia, to William K. and Sarah Elizabeth (Steen) Spearman. Miss Spearman was a member of the Christian Church and the Eastern Star at Sanger, Calif. She attended the Eldon and Iberia schools, the Iberia Academy and graduated from Drury College, Springfield. She received her master's degree at Stanford University, did post graduate work at Columbia University, New York, N.Y. and studied in Germany and Sanger, Calif. Miss Spearman was an instructor at Fresno State College and the University of California at Berkeley; and Lincoln University and College of the Ozarks in Missouri. For the past six years she and her sister, Miss Jo Ann Spearman devoted much time to their herd of registered Polled Hereford cattle on the farm in the Iberia community. The sisters, charter members of the Lake of the Ozarks Polled Hereford Assn., had entries in most livestock shows in the area and received many top awards. The Rev. Earl Basil Brown will officiate at the funeral services Friday. The body will be in state at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, until Saturday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state from 12 o'clock until time for the service. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery.
