Obituary: Jefferson City Post-Tribune, Wednesday, January 23, 2002 Services were Jan. 14 for Anna J. Schaffer, 76, St. Ann, who died Jan. 9, 2002 in St. Louis. She was born March 27, 1925, in St. Anthony, a daughter of George C. and Mary Volmert Ewers. She was married June 24, 1944, in St. Louis, to Victor Schaffer, who survives at the home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Kevin's Catholic Church in St. Ann. Survivors include five daughters, Kathleen Vaughan, Dolly Hillis and Laverne Brown, all of St. Louis, Carolyn Weldon, St. Clair and Elaine Ghirardi, Granite City, Ill.; six sons, Gary Schaffer, Ronald Schaffer, Gene Schaffer, Fritz Schaffer and Harold Schaffer, all of St. Louis and Durren Schaffer, Granite City; seven sisters, Cecilia Baer and Sister Roseanne Ewers, both of St. Louis, Frieda Schaffer, Cary, N.C., Angela Schulte, St. Anthony, Sister Victoria Ewers, Manacapuru, Brazil, Dordula Hibdon, Mary's Home, and Mary Struemph, Jefferson City; one brother, John Ewers, St. Anthony; 32 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. One infant son, Gerald James Schaffer, preceded her in death. Services were at St. Kevin's Catholic Church, St. Ann. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
