    3. Doris Taggart forwarded several obituaries and asked that I post them here. While most lived in the Marion area of Cole County, they do have direct ties to Miller County. I am going to post them in family groups to help in cross-referencing family members. Nancy T. Obituary: Unknown Publication Charles D. Taggart, 84, died Tuesday at Marion. He suffered a stroke on April 13 and had been bedfast since that time. Mr. Taggart was born in the Marion community on April 8, 1859. He married Miss Mary Hudson in 1886. She died 18 years ago. He was a member of Shiloh Christian church. Surviving are seven children, Mrs. David Shannon, Edward, Floyd, Herman and William of Marion, Dell and Paul Taggart of Jefferson City. There are two half-brothers, George and Everett, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at New Hope Baptist church at 2 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. Steward McDaniel officiating. note: Charles D. Taggart died 27 July 1943 per his death certificate. Obituary: Unknown Publication Funeral services of Mrs. Mary Hudson Taggart, well-known county resident who died last Sunday afternoon at the family home in the Marion neighbor-hood, were held Monday afternoon at the New Hope Church in Marion. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Taggart, who was 63 years of age, was born July 17, 1862 and had lived practically all of her life in this vicinity. 1886 she was married to Charles Taggart, prominent farmer of Marion. Mrs. Taggart was a consistent member of the Baptist church for 28 years, a loving wife and tender mother. Those who knew her best loved her most and to them her passing is one of the un-explainable mysteries of life and death. She is survived and mourned by her husband and six children, Mrs. David Shannon of Marion, Floyd of Marion, Delmar of Jefferson City, Herman of Marion and Will and Paul at home; two step-children, Mrs. Maude Higgins of Sedalia and Edward Taggart of Marion, and ten grandchildren also are left behind with one brother and three sisters. Her death is a loss to the community in which she wrought and loved and worked so well. note: Mary (Hudson) Taggart died 16 Aug 1925 (per Doris Taggart) Obituary: The Daily Capital News, Jefferson City, Missouri Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, at a local funeral chapel for Delmar C. Taggart, 69, of 307 Clay St., who died at 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Mary's Hospital, following an illness of about four years. Mr. Taggart was born at Marion, Sept. 25, 1894, the son of C. D. and Mary Hudson Taggart. He attended school at Marion. For many years he was employed as a brakeman with the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Later he was employed in the building trade as a hod carrier. In 1917, at Marion, he was married to the former Miss Bessie L. Hunziker, who survives. Other survivors include: One daughter, Mrs. Morris D. Munsen, Jefferson City; one son, Robert C. Taggart, Fenton; four brothers, Edward, Herman and William, all of Marion, and Paul Taggart, Jefferson City. Officiating at the funeral will be the Rev. Robert Werner. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. note: Delmar Taggart died 30 June 1964 note: Delmar & Bessie were married in Jefferson City, not Marion (notes per Doris Taggart) ------------------- Obituary: The Daily Capital News, Jefferson City, Missouri Mrs. Bessie Taggart, 74, 1222 Southwest Blvd., died Sunday following a heart attack and a stroke at a hospital in Kirkwood. She had been visiting with her son, Robert Taggart in Fenton. Mrs. Taggart was born at Centertown, Sept. 20, 1895, the daughter of Frank and Amelia Baushausen Hunziker. In May of 1917, she married Delmar C. Taggart, who died on June 30, 1964. She was a member of Jehovahs Witnesses High Ridge. Beside her son, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Morris D. Munsen, of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Durham, 1224 W. High St., Mrs. Maggie Elliott, Centertown; three brothers; William Hunziker Holts Summit, Fred Hunziker, Centertown, and Henry Hunziker, Wright City; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Houser Funeral Chapel with Norman E. Darden officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens (Jefferson City). note: Bessie Taggart died August 9, 1970 (per Doris Taggart) Obituary: Unknown Publication Funeral services for Frank Hunziker, 88, a widely known resident at Centertown for many years who died late Thursday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Durham of 1224 W. high Street will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist Church at Centertown. Rev. William Richter, pastor of the Lutheran Church here, will conduct the services and burial will be in the church cemetery at that place. Death was caused by heart trouble and complications incident to old age. Shock over the passing of his wife, Mrs. Amelia Hunziker at Centertown two months ago, also super-induced his death. Mr. Hunziker was born in Switzerland in 1844 and came to this country when seven years of age. He moved to a farm near Centertown in 1858 and from the farm into Centertown in 1918. He had resided in that vicinity 74 years. Four daughters, Mrs. Durham and Mrs. Dell Taggart of this city, Mrs. W. E. Howland of Kansas City and Mrs. Everett Elliott of Marion, Mo., and three sons, William and Henry Hunziker of this city and Fred Hunziker of Centertown survive. note: per death certificate Frank Hunziker died 13 October 1932 (per Doris Taggart)- Obituary: Unknown Publication Mrs. Amelia Hunziker, 73 years old, wife of Frank Hunziker, died last night at her home in Centertown. At a late hour last night no arrangements had been perfected for the funeral. Besides the husband she is survived by seven children: Mrs. Mary Durham, Mrs. Bessie Taggart and William and Henry Hunziker, all of Jefferson City, Fred Hunziker of Centertown, Mrs. Etta Howland of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Maggie Elliott of Marion, Mo. She leaves also a brother and a sister, Henry Baushausen of Marion and Mrs. Laura Garnett of Centertown. Mrs. Hunziker was a native of Cole County, born in the vicinity of Centertown and had lived there all her life.
