He was born January 1, 1914 at St. Elizabeth, a son of John L. and Rosa Massman Bax. He was married Sept. 20, 1938 at St. Anthony, to Bertha Blomberg, who survives at the home. A retired farmer and heavy equipment operator, Mr. Bax was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth, Holy Name Sodality, Knights of Columbus 7132, and past president of St. Elizabeth Senior Citizens Center.
