Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune, Tuesday, February 26, 2002 Charles Edward "Ed" Davenport, 83, Versailles, died Feb. 24, 2002, at St. Mary's Health Center (Jefferson City). He was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Miller County, a son of George A. and Bitha Jane Lowery Davenport. He was married Feb. 1, 1941, to Berbia Mae Huff, who died April 15, 1997. He was a truck driver. He was a police officer for the city of Versailles and city marshal for the Stover Police Department. He was a member of the Missouri Sheriff's Association. Survivors include: four sons, James Davenport, Sedalia, Herschel Davenport, Plattsburg, Charles Davenport, Versailles, and David Davenport, St. Joseph; two daughters, Ruby Davenport, Versailles, and Sandra McKinzie, Gravois Mills; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One daughter, Evelyn Sue Davenport, preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Roy Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery near Eldon. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
