Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, March 1953 Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Eugene at 10 a.m. Monday for C. R. Miller of Eugene who died suddenly of a heart attack Friday night while visiting at the home of his brother, R.L. Miller, in Etterville. The Rev. John Jenkins officiated at the service and burial was in Spring Garden Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon. Mr. Miller, the son of James Perry and Emma E. Miller, was born May 12, 1896 at the Miller homestead south of Eugene in Miller County. He had been employed since 1942 as a route solicitor for the News and Tribune of Jefferson City. Mr. Miller in his youth attended Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg, enlisting in the Marine Corps for World War I service during his junior year. He served in France. He was first teller in a Bristol, Okla. bank before entering the oil business. Later he worked for General Motors in St. Louis supervising an assembly line group. In addition to his mother who lives in Burbank, Calif., Mr. Miller is survived by three brothers: James C. Miller of Columbia; R.L. Miller of Etterville, and Claude Miller of El Dorado, Kans. and two sisters, Mrs. J.M. Crum of Leavenworth, Kans., and Mrs. F.A. Nefeler of Burbank, Calif.
