Obituary: Nefferson City News Tribune, Sunday, February 3, 2002 Irene Overton, 90, Eldon, died Jan. 30, 2002, in Eldon. She was born Oct. 28, 1911, in Miller County, a daughter of Edmond and Pearl Armstrong Davenport. She was married March 15, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan., to Don C. Overton, who survives at the home. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Eldon. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Club. She had worked for the Nelly Don Clothing factory. Other survivors include: one son, Gordon Overton, Kansas City, Kan., four sisters, Zella Merklin, Clara Enloe, Iris Young and Nadine Hachler, all of Eldon; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with the Rev. Shirlye Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Tol Wood Cemetery, Eldon. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Tol Wood Cemetery or the First Christian Church, Eldon.
