Obituary: Jefferson City Post-Tribune, September 2000 James A. "Jim" Bittle, 60, Venice, Fla., died Sept. 16, 2000, at Venice Hospital. He was born May 10, 1940, in Eugene, a son of Lloyd and Wilma Shackleford Bittle. He was married Feb. 23, 1964 in California to Mary Judith Cram, who survives at the home. He was a former police officer and chief of police in Eldon in the 1970s until he moved. He was a police officer until 1976 and also worked for the Osage Beach Police Department. He moved to Venice from Rocky Mount in 1984. Other survivors include one daughter, Valerie Richter, Venice, and two sisters, Carol Hale, Henley, and Patricia Mulholland, Eugene. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Cellis Crum will officiate. Memorialas are suggested to the American Heart Association.
