We lived in Clear Lake for 9 years--9 miles west of Mason City and almost into Minnesota. That was the first serious winter I had ever experienced. At least people up there knew how to dress for the cold. They didn't allow it to keep them indoors. Ya, it's no big deal really, at least if you're out of the wind. I was working outside today for about 5 hours. Temperature made it up to about 3 below. Properly dressed, it wasn't a problem. Most of know how to drive on icy roads too. Coldest here was in like 1997 or 1998, it was down to 30 something below. Places in Minnesota were right at 40 below.
