Both Eli and Susie are buried in Old Zion Cemetery. Children: Per DeVere Whitaker- Elmer Abbet, 15 year old son of Eli Abbet, died July 31, 1916. Death came from eating too many green apples and drinking too freely of cold water. Burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery, August 10, 1916. ****************** Daughter's obit: Obituary: Jefferson City Post-Tribune, Monday, March 19, 2001 Ruby Martin, 90, Owensville, died March 18, 2001, in Owensville. She was born July 3, 1910, in Ulman, a daughter of Eli and Susie Forrester Abbott. She was married March 3, 1929, in Tuscumbia, to Ralph Martin, who died Aug. 25, 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia. Survivors include: two sons, Melford Martin, Owensville, and Ken Martin, Tuscumbia; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. One daughter Juanita Hunter, preceded her in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia. The Rev. Don Bilbary will officiate. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillps Funeral Home, Eldon. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Tuscumbia. Sorry, I don't have anything on the parents.
