    3. Obituary: The New Iberian, September 7, 1978 Otto Holtmeyer, 70, St. Elizabeth, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 30, at his home. Mr. Holtmeyer was born May 24, 1908 at St. Elizabeth the son of Joseph and Margaret Schaffer Holtmeyer. On October 6, 1937, he was married at St. Elizabeth to Emma E. Dubbert, who survives at the home. Mr. Holtmeyer was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Sodality of the church. He was assistant manager of the MFA Exchange at St. Elizabeth form 1935 to 1958. Mr. Holtmeyer was a farmer and an assistant rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Other survivors include: six sons, Kenneth Holtmeyer and Dennis Holtmeyer, both of St. Charles, Bill Holtmeyer, Springfield, Donald Holtmeyer, Jerome Holtmeyer and Patrick Holtmeyer, all of St. Elizabeth; five daughters, Mrs. Betty Jean Kroll, Miss Eileen Holtmeyer, Mrs. Nancy Wilbers and Mrs. Mary Green, all of Jefferson City and Mrs. Patsy Green, St. Anthony; four brothers, Alphonse Holtmeyer, Grank Holtmeyer, Joseph Holtmeyer, all of St. Elizabeth and Leo Holtmeyer, St. Thomas; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Brauhn, Waterloo, Iowa and Mrs. Margaret Hawken, Tuscumbia; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The rosary was recited for Mr. Holtmeyer at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Stevinson Funeral Home, St. Elizabeth. The funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth, with the Msgr. Gerard Poelker officiating. Burial was at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, the Heart Fund or the Wardsville St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Building Fund.
