    3. Norbert Benjamin Berendzen, 83, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born December 24, 1923, in Mary's Home, Missouri, a son of the late Fred and Dora (Schulte) Berendzen. On November 11, 1950, he was married in Jefferson City, to Mary Louise Ilse, who survives at the home. Mr. Berendzen owned and operated Norbert's Sales & Service for forty-nine years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pitch, but most of all he loved to be with his children, grandchildren and family. He is also survived by three sons: Mike Berendzen (wife Jan) of Jefferson City; Gary Berendzen (wife Sherry) of Jefferson City; Mark Berendzen (wife Sue) of Jefferson City; three daughters: Ilse Erickson (husband Jeff) of West Point, VA; Marian Bridges (husband Curt) of California, MO and Barbara Redus (husband Dirke) of Jefferson City; one sister: Mary Ann DeCook of Jefferson City; seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother: Clarence Berendzen, three sisters: Rosie Berendzen, Edna Doerhoff and Evelyn Speedy, and one granddaughter: Brooke Berendzen. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Msgr. Donald W. Lammers as the Celebrant, and Fr. Robert Fields, Fr. Donardo Bermejo and Fr. Frank Bussmann as the Concelebrants. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church & School.
