Alfred James Cole Alfred James Cole was born June 12, 1850 in Jackson county, Mo. His parents died early in life and he was raised to manhood by Mr. Haywood Short and wife of near Russellville. He confessed Christ at the age of 16 uniting with the M. E. Church, afterwards united with the Baptist Cole Spring Church in Cole County and lived a consistent Christian life up to death. He was united in the Holy Bonds of marriage Feby 6th, 186? to Ruthie R. Proctor and to this union was born three daughters all of whom survive him and with their mother mourn his loss. He resided in Cole County many years, then moved to Red Rock, Oklahoma from which place they moved to Etterville where they have lived the past four years where they have many warm friends and neighbors who sorrow with the bereaved. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Saturday noon, August 31, 1912 by Rev. J. M. Henderson of Eldon assisted by Rev. J. H. Browning of Eugene. The remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Mount cemetery there to await the call to "enter into the Joys of the Lord" The family wish to thank the many friends who assisted in caring for and putting away the remains. Henry Hoff and wife accompanied by Mrs. C. B. Scrivner came from Oklahoma to attend the funeral of Mr. Cole Saturday noon.
