Obituary: The New Iberian, October 5, 1978 James Preston Wilson, 87, Iberia, died Tuesday, Sept. 26 at his home. He was born July 20, 1891, at Iberia, the son of John and Rachel Ponder Wilson. On Dec. 24, 1916, he was married at Iberia to Edith Shelton who survives. Mr. Wilson was a lifelong Iberia resident. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Christian Church, Iberia. Other survivors include: a son, James M. Wilson, Florissant; three daughters, Miss June Wilson and Miss Ina Wilson, both of St. Louis, and Mrs. Barbara Burnett, Iberia; a brother, Oscar Wilson, Iberia; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at the Stevinson Funeral Home, Iberia, with Brother Steve Shepherd officiating. Burial was at the Livingston Cemetery, Iberia.
