Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, March 1988 Lyman Henry Wood, 67, of Eldon died Monday, March 21, 1988 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Administratino Hospital in Columbia after a long illness. Mr. Wood was born March 7, 1921 in Eldon to George and Ethel Odom Wood. On Aug. 26, 1941, he was married to Effie Abbott, who survives at the home. Mr. Wood was a mechanic at Ernie Jones Auto Sales and also had worked for Bowness Auto Parts. He was a member of the Bagnell Baptist Church. Surviving him in addition to his wife are two sons, Norman Wood of Avon, Colo. and Leslie Dale Wood of Cucamonga, Calif.; a daughter, Cleta Sue Moon of Burleson, Tex.; a sister, Minnie Heldstab of Eldon; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Wendell Estill and the Rev. Jim McGowan officiating. Burial will be in Tol Wood Cemetery. Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Griswold-Kays Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels.
