    3. Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, October 1987 Dessie J. Wells, 81, of Rte 3. Eldon died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1987 at the Ozark Care Center in Osage Beach. She was born Feb. 7, 1906 in Camden County to Solomon and Alice Sconce Upton. On Oct. 4, 1927, she was married in Tuscumbia to James P. Wells, who died Aug. 10, 1968. Mrs. Wells had worked as a machine operator in the garment industry. She worked for Glazer Brothers in Eldon and then for Primo Manufacturing in Versailles until her retirement. She was a lifetime Eldon resident and was a member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Wells are two daughters, Cora Mae Kelley of Nickerson, Kan., and Mary Jane Sears of Eldon; a son, James E. Wells of Eldon; a brother, Noble Upton of Eldon; two sisters, Bessie Martin and Emeline Teal, both of Eldon' and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Aurora Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Martin and the Rev. Ed Teal officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery north of Eldon under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
