Obituary: Unknown Publication, April 1900 Mrs. Rebecca Starling died at her home three and one-half miles east of Olean, Miller County, Missouri, April 23, 1900, and was buried in the Allen grave yard on Tuesday the 24, after funeral services had been held at the Mt. Herman Baptist church conducted by the writer. Sister Starling was born near the present site of Olean, Jan. 30, 1832, being the daughter of Jerry Vernon who came from Tennessee to Missouri in the early twenties. She was the sixth child of a family of sixteen children. She was married to Richard C. Starling, April 16, 1848, to which union three sons and six daughters were born. Only two sons and one daughter survives their mother, the husband and six children having preceded her to the spirit land. Sister Starling was converted and joined the Mt. Herman Church Oct. 1885 and was an exemplary Christian and faithful member until her death. Kind and obliging, ever ready to help the sick and the needy, she will be much missed by the church and community. She suffered with paralysis for nearly two years, but through it all she was patient and uncomplaining. Crowds of people attended her funeral and paid a living tribute to her memory. The family has out warmest sympathy. -David McComb
