Obituary: The Miller County Autogram-Sentinel, Thursday, July 18, 1985 Selah M. Beard, 72, of Barnett died Saturday, July 13, 1985, at Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City. She was born May 23, 1913, in Ava to Joe B. and Lillie A. Larue Swain. In 1940 she was married to Joseph McKinley, who died in 1971. In 1973 she married Verner H. "Bun" Beard, who died April 4, 1984. She was a member of the Barnett Baptist Chapel. Surviving her are two step-sons, Raymond Beard of Iberia and Lynn Beard of Springfield; five step-daughters, June Ahart, Imogene Horton and Patricia Ash, all of Tuscumbia; Pauline Hensley of Ulman and Melilssa Beard of Springfield; a sister, Fannie Turner of Springfield; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Barnett Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Bunch and Rev. Cellis Crum officiating. Burial was in the Versailles Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home.
