I just called my source in Brumley...an Ash. He said the Wright Cemetery was never owned by him or his family. He also said what I had mentioned before, that the Robinett Cemetery was originally called the Ash Cemetery for a short time because the first person buried there was an infant with the last name of Ash. Unknown Publication, February 1981 A rural Eldon woman, Debra F. Franklin, 27, was killed early Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident in Miller County. The accident occurred at 1:50 a.m. on U.S. 54, just west of the Business 54 intersection in Lake Ozark. The state Highway Patrol said a westbound car which the dead woman was riding in struck a parked tractor-trailer that was parked along the highway. According to the patrol, the tractor trailer was parked on the westbound shoulder with two feet of the left rear corner on the highway. The driver of the car, Barbara R. Vansciver, 24, Osage Beach, was taken to Lake Ozark General Hospital with moderate injuries. OBITUARY: Miss Debra Fay Franklin, 27, Osage Beach, died Wednesday in an automobile accident. She was born Jan. 28, 1954, at Jefferson City, the daughter of James L. and Georgette Rehagen Franklin who survive at Eldon. A lifelong resident of central Missouri, Miss Franklin attended the Eldon public schools and was graduated from Eldon High School in 1972. Other survivors include: a son, Eric Franklin of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Marilyn Opie, Eldon, and Mrs. Judy Hitt, Columbia; three brothers, Terry Franklin and James E. Jim, I have an Inah Lou Shelton , dau of Gilbert W. and Ada Condra Shelton but I have her married to a Mr. Wilson, (see obit below) don't know if this is the one that you are looking for or not. Wilma The Miller County Autogram-Sentinel Tuscumbia, Missouri Thursday, November 7, 1985 Pg 3, Col 2 Gilbert Shelton Gilbert Shelton, 89, of Brumley died Monday Nov. 4, 1985 at the Osage Beach Health Care Center. He was born Jan 30, 1896 at Brumley to John and Nancy Meredith Shelton. On Dec 16, 1927 he was marred at Tuscumbia to Ada Condra, who survives him at the home. Mr. Shelton was an army veteran of World War I. He was a farmer and merchant and had owned Brumley Mercantile from 1945 to 1960. He was a member of the Brumley Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son Glen Shelton of Brumley, two daughters, Anna Ruth McDonald of Florissant and Inah Lou Wilson of Iberia; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 10am Thursday at the Brumley Baptist Church with the Reb. Carles Caldwell officiating. Burial was in Gott Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson-Mossman Funeral
Unknown Document, Feb. 1973 Everett Jones, Sr., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 1973, at his home in Iberia one day before his 79th birthday. Mr. Jones was born Feb. 18, 1894 in Iberia, the son of Manassah and Sarah (Aust) Jones. He was married on Nov. 9, 1913, by Squire John Ferguson, to Emma Estella Rowden, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1967. Mr. Jones lived in Iberia all his life, and worked for the Miller County Highway Department. After his retirement in 1959, he drove a school bus for two years. He was a member of the Iberia Church of the Nazarene and a former member of the Odd Fellows in Iberia. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Veta, in 1918 and one stepson, Redus Rowden, on June 24, 1972. Surviving are three sons, Allen Jones of Kansas City, Amil Jones of Smithton, and Everett Jones, Jr., of Otterville; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Hicks of Florissant, Mrs. Mary Griffin of Iberia, and Mrs. Betty Sessions of Dixon; one brother, Leslie Jones of Iberia; one sister, Edna Jones of Iberia; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia with the Rev. Mark Sooter and the Rev. Gary Gulley officiating. Interment was in the Iberia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Audrey Ferguson, Earl Smith, Okley Kinder, Gail Whittle, Tommy Strutton, and Francis Humphrey.
Unknown Publication, July 1968 Miss Maggie Elizabeth Dickerson, 78, died suddenly Tuesday night, July 30, 1968, in the Wilson Apartments in Iberia where she made her home. Her death was due to an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at the First Christian Church of Iberia with the Rev. James Bade officiating. Burial was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Miss Dickerson was born June 26, 1890 near Iberia in Miller County, the daughter of John E. and Rebecca (Phillips) Dickerson. She lived most of her life in and around Iberia. She spent a few years in St. Louis where she was employed as a practical nurse. During World War II she went to Wichita, Kan., and was employed there with Boeing Aircraft. Miss Dickerson, who never married, retired in Iberia in 1959. -balance of text missing
Unknown Publication, unknown date Mrs. Ruth Frances Grady, 71, died Monday at her home in Iberia after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 14, 1894, at Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of John Esaw and Etta (Wright) Groves. She was married Jan. 17, 1919, to Walter F. Grady who died in 1941. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Mary O'Donald. Mrs. Grady clerked in the Grady and Porter Store, and later in the Rowden Store in Iberia. Survivors include one brother, Wayne Groves of Iberia; one sister, Mrs. Effie M. McDonald of Sacramento, Calif.; and two nieces whom she reared in her home, Mrs. Marcia Ann Shackleford, Lake Ozark and Mrs. Marie Alice Shackleford, Iberia. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Iberia, where the funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Jack Zike officiating. Mrs. Grady, a resident of Miller County since 1927, was a past matron of Iberia Chapter 537, Order of the Eastern Star; and a member and treasurer of the Royal Neighbors of America. Eastern Star rites were conducted at Scrivner-Stevinson Chapel at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of Scrivner-Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Russell Mobley, Berry Livingston, Oral Atwell, Okley Kinder, and Jed and Ted Groves.
Unknown Publication, January 1970 Mrs. Erie Abernathy, 67, of Branson, formerly of Iberia, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1970, at Skaggs Hospital in Branson. She was born Sept. 24, 1902, in Miller County near Iberia, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Morrow) Humphrey. On March 13, 1929 she was married to Charles Abernathy who survives at the home in Branson. The Abernathys, who formerly owned and operated Iberia Cleaners for several years, had been living in Branson more than 15 years. Mr. Abernathy is a former mayor of Iberia. Mrs. Abernathy was a member of the Brays Advent Christian Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ida Whitaker of St. Louis, Mrs. Katie Rowden of Iberia, and Mrs. Lillian Henson of Branson; and two brothers, Harold Humphrey of Anchorage, Alaska and Woodrow Humphrey of Phoenix, Ariz. The death of another brother, Ray Humphrey of St. Ann, occurred the same day as that of his sisters. He and Mrs. Abernathy died only a few hours apart. His funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Ann. Funeral services for Mrs. Abernathy were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Brays Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Aldon Veach officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbeaers were Bert Faber, Ernie Humphrey, Lloyd Rowden, Robert Henson, Hezzy Hinson, and Floyd Rowden.
Unknown Publication, November 1965 Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Octavie (Tavie) Skaggs, 78, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Brays Advent Christian Church. Mrs. Skaggs died Sunday at Humphreys Hospital in Tuscumbia. She was born March 2, 1887, near Iberia, the daughter of George Martin and Hannah (Tyler) Humphrey. On November 9, 1904, she married Theodore Thomas Skaggs who survives at the home near Iberia. Mrs. Skaggs was a lifelong resident of Miller County and a 70-year member of the Brays Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by five sons, Freeman and Grant Skaggs of Iberia, Rayborn of Bunker, Billie of St. Louis, and Gordon of Waterford, Conn.; five daughters, Mrs. Neta Myers and Mrs. Alma Myers of Lutesville, Mrs. Nova Dake, Mrs. Josephine Mohrman and Gay Lamb of St. Louis. One Brother, Clyde Humphrey of Iberia; four sisters, Mrs. Julia Livingston of St. Louis and Mrs. Monte Shelton, Mrs. Dessie Morrow, and Mrs. Mary McKee, all of Iberia; 24 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, four brothers and three sisters. The Rev. Miles Bowden officiated at the funeral services. Interment was in Union Cemetery near Iberia under the direction of Scrivner-Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Ernie Humphrey, Earl Humphrey, Jennings McKee, and James Argus, and Ellis Skaggs.
