Hi Julie, You can browse maps from the comfort of your computer for free! Click here: http://www.mytopo.com/maps.cfm?search_string=%22mary%27s+home%2C+missouri%22 Once there, you'll see the latest USGS topographical map. If you want to see only the main roads and place names, click the "MAP" icon in the upper right hand corner. For aerial photographs/satellite imagery, click on the "Hybrid" icon. It's powered by Google maps, and you can scroll around, zoom in and out. Much more detail than you'll find on a printed county map. Most cemeteries and churches are denoted, along with the names of streams, outlines of buildings, elevations, etc. Enjoy! ~ Mitch ~ --- On Sun, 11/29/09, Julie Carr <momsfamilytree@yahoo.com> wrote: > From: Julie Carr <momsfamilytree@yahoo.com> > Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Jenkins-Bungart Cemetery > To: momiller@rootsweb.com > Date: Sunday, November 29, 2009, 12:21 PM > I'm rereading some of the emails I > kept through the years and came across this. > > Is there any way to get a Miller County Map mailed to me? > > Julie > > --- On Sun, 2/8/09, Nancy & Jerry Thompson <beatku@embarqmail.com> > wrote: > > > From: Nancy & Jerry Thompson <beatku@embarqmail.com> > Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Jenkins-Bungart Cemetery > To: momiller@rootsweb.com > Date: Sunday, February 8, 2009, 8:06 AM > > > The cemetery page on MoGenweb http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~momiller/ > gives directions to this cemetery: > > Take Hwy. For those that don't know there is a Jim Matt Lawson cemetary in Maries county. MAY be Miller but dont think so, right on or near the lines between miller and Maries. and there is a DICK Lawson cemetary in Miller about 8 miles N.E. Iberia off Rosebud lane. we always said Jim Matt Lawson for that one and just Lawson for this other one. brandy42@windstream.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Julie Carr" <momsfamilytree@yahoo.com> To: <momiller@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 29, 2009 2:16 PM Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Jim Matt Lawson Cemetery I know this is a late reply but from death certificates I have on some of my relatives buried in Jim Matt Lawson Cemetery, on the death certificates they have Lawson Cemetery as place of burial, but I have pictures of their tombstones and I took them at Jim Matt Lawson Cemetery. Julie Carr: Please continue to transcribe obituaries and make them available to those who need them; they are one of the richest sources of family information available and also one of the most accurate sources outside of actual public documents. Nancy and the other Miller County folks are doing a tremendous service to researchers now and for years to come. I've been indexing the Belle Banner, Maries County Gazette and Unterrified Democrat (Osage County) since 1988, have transcribed most of them and have them in electronic format. I also include birth announcements, wedding anniversaries and marriage license application listings that are published. It also helps me keep up with the "home folks" and extended family even though I haven't lived in Maries County since 1956. I use a scanner and copy the scanned image to MicroSoft Word. Its faster than straight transcription even though I have to clean up the formating, replace missing words, sometimes whole sentences or paragraphs and correct letters that the OCR converter doesn't identify correctly. The newspaper subscription costs about double what it does in the home county because the newspaper has to mail them out of state but I get usually get them on Saturday when they're published on Wednesday. My indexes are at www.schwegler.us under the Gasconade Valley Cousins tab and electronic copies are available on request. Hard copies are also in the Historical Society research rooms at Vienna and Linn, Missouri. Those that I have in electronic format are also listed in the Rootsweb.com "Obituary Times" index. Just the few I've done from my mother-in-law's family I know how time consuming it it. Thanks Again, Julie (Allen) Carr P.S I have the Eldon Newspaper from Part of Dec 2007 - until present if anyone needs me to look something up let me know and I will. I'm not for sure if I will continue to get them now that I live in Tennessee, but I will help as much as I can. --- On Wed, 10/14/09, Mary E. Stigler <mestigler@sbcglobal.net> wrote:
