I think we have been down this road before and same questions come up again. As I understood it before, George William Long had two daughters named Mary. The first, Mary A. "Polly" Victoria Long was b. 14 May 1939 and d. 13 May 1916 and is buried in Miles Cemetery. (Per the death Certificate #21954). Her mother was Sarah Steward ~1810-1849. Mary A. "Polly" married Anderson Andrew Wall (when/where?). They had one child, Julia Ann Wall Shelton, b. 8 Jan 1852 (per her death cert). George's second daughter named Mary was born ~1857. Her mother was Mary A. Pennington. This second daughter also married Anderson Andrew Wall 18 Aug 1861, and was the mother of the rest of the children listed below. Somewhere in the middle of all this, Anderson Andrew Wall was married to Easter Emeline Leonard 12 Jan 1851 and they had 3 children b. 1853, 1855, 1856. There is a note in our family history that says Rachel Salina Cox, who married James Harvey Vernon, was given a spinning wheel by John Scott as a wedding present. John Scott was a brother to the first wife of Rachel's father, John Sidney Cox. Martha Scott was married to John Sidney Cox and died around the age of 30. Afterward he married Sarah Esther Downing who was Rachel's mother. My parents have this spinning wheel still. My question is: Does anyone know any more about Martha and her brother John Scott? Martha d. 1865 in Quincy IL. I know nother else about the pair, other than John was in Miller County MO in 1885 for Rachel's wedding. Thanks, Charlene

We might need to look for a name other than Stamper. 1910 Census, Dade County has Clarence Stamper age 11, adopted son of Bert E. and Bertha Fortner. 1920 Census, Pulaski County has Clarence Stamper age 24 living with his widowed mother, Mollie Grass age 54. Death Cert. for Mary Susan Grass July 26, 1921 in Richland, Pulaski County. She was born December 5, 1866 in Knox Co. KY. She was the widow of Charles L. Grass. Informant for the death cert. was Harley Stamper of Richland, MO. so I would say there is a connection between the Grass and Stamper families. Might be a place to look.
