Hi, I usually just lurk, but if anyone is interested in the Millers, I've been compiling information on them for a few years. I have a good part of my research at: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=millersmissouri . <http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=millersmissouri> I'd love to hear about additions or corrections. Miller went to Lane Co. Oregon. My Anna (Miller) Maupin (sister of William, and daughter of Boyd Miller, Sr.) and husband, Thomas L. Maupin went on the Oregon Trail with many of their kids (my records show that she had 16 children, raised 12).. and families. Anna and Thomas(and a kid or two) stayed only a year, as they didn't like it there.. The others stayed... so the family became very divided in proximity of each other.. So here I see that her nephew Jacob went too. As I understand it, Anna and Thomas came back by way of boat.. There are several theories what happened to Thomas, but he died the day or so when he got back. One story says that he was defending his daughter from an "adventuresome" man who found the daughter delightful.. They got into a fight and he was killed. I am not sure anyone knows the true story. However I did find his estate settlement in the Gasconade Co. records. I also found Anna's obit. in a Gasconade Co. newspaper microfilm at the State Historical Society several years ago. I found a second one in the newspaper of the succeeding week of her death. She was praised as being a wonderful woman.. What a legacy! My grandfather Stites would have been a little boy when she died. So I've learned something new.. that a kinsman, a MILLER went on the OREGON TRAIL too.. Cheers, Ellie

I found Alfred M. and Matilda Stickney living in St. Francois County in the 1900 Census. With them were two children, Rosie M. Stickney b. Jun 1894 and Joseph M. Stickney b. Feb 1897. I didn't find any Myrtle Irene. I found this in the special 1975 edition of the Autogram-Sentinel. Information was compiled by Gwen Gunn Shoemaker and Grace Adams Farmer, Eldon, for The Miller Book. Although the desire was to name the county for William's son, Pinckney Miller, first male white child born in the area, it was felt the Legislature would be receptive to honoring a more widely known person so the petition asked that the new county be called Miller for former Gov. John Miller. (Family stories relate that Governor Miller was a second cousin of William). Nancy T.
Do you have birth dates for Boyd and Jacob J.? I accidently deleted them when making another correction. I know this has never happened to anyone else. ----- Original Message ----- From: <lively100@sbcglobal.net> To: <momiller@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2007 2:27 PM Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Pinckney Miller - obituary > Here is what I have on Millers, just a touch of the Maupins. > Boyd Miller 1769 died abt 1824 married 1 dec 1791 in Greenbrier, Va to > Mart > Story mary born abt 1773 Va > they had Margaret Peggy Abt 1793 Greenbrier, va married Abt 1817 to Hiram > Rogers I have 8 kids for them > # 2 William already posted > # 3 Anna Miller 1797 Greenbrier, Va died 1889 Gasconade, Mo married Thomas > Maupin 12 Jul 1817 in Franklin, Mo > Boyd married 2nd Mary Stephenson Abt 1798 Greenbrier, Va shewas born 1772 > Augusta, Va died bef 1899 he then married 3rd Eliz Betty Stephenson sister > to Mary 1799 0ne year after Mary died and had 8 kids > Boyd, Jacob J, Thos Jefferson, John, Samuel, Hannah, Elijah Garten, > Elizabeth being last. > > > Jim K > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <EllieSS@aol.com> > To: <momiller@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2007 1:24 PM > Subject: Re: [MOMILLER] Pinckney Miller - obituary > > >> Jim: >> The parents of William Miller, b. 23 Oct. 1795 were: Boyd Miller and >> Mary >> Story/Storey.
