Surnames: Bear Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.miller/3381/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Global satellite localization indicates the same coordinates for Hickory Point Christian Church and Hickory Point Baptist Church. According to the Miller County Baptist Association book of histories of local Baptist churches, the Hickory Point church had a split in the late 1800's having to do with the "Alexander Campbellite" movement. Since the name of the church now is Hickory Point Baptist Church, I am assuming the Campbellite sympathizers were the ones who left and began worshipping elsewhere. One of the early members of the original church was Absolom Bear, who was known to be a member of the Christian church. My question is, where did the Campbellite group worship after leaving the original church. Several Bears including Absolom are buried in the Hickory Point cemetery

Also checked Cole and no marriage there. 1880 Census Moniteau County C. C. Brown age 41 and wife Eliza age 50, children Mandania 15, Louiza 13, Jno. 11, Robert 9, Columbus 7.
