Obituary: Jefferson City Post-Tribune, October 2000 Gladys Aline Stovall, 83, Lebanon, formerly of Iberia, died Oct. 6, 2000, at Christian Health Care South, Lebanon. She was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Whitewater, a daughter of James L. and Effie Mae McElreath Stroder. She worked at Ft. Leonard Wood in civil service before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Brays Advent Christian Church, near Iberia. Survivors include: three daughters, Norma Wall, Stoutland, Melba Stovall, Springfield, and Joyce Noyes, St. Robert; three sons, Don Stovall, Mountain Grove, Mike Stovall, Springfield, and Terry Stovall, Lake Ozark; one brother, Floyd Stroder, Chaffee; one sister, Pearl McManus, Chaffee; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Two sons, Wayne Stovall and David Stovall, and three grandchildren preceded her in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Everett Parker and the Rev. Larry Hubbard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, near Iberia. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to Brays Advent Christian Church.
The 1910 Census has George Matt Pemberton and wife Daisy. They were married in 1909 and there are no children listed. They had a child born and died 4 June 1910. Daisy died 22 Sep 1916. The 1920 Census lists George Matt Pemberton and wife Hester with the following children: Flo A. age 8, Chlo age 5 3/12, Clark L. age 3 1/12, Nell M. age 4/12, and Furrell O. McCrory age 6. George Matt married Hester 24 Oct 1918, so that would mean that Flo, Chlo, and Clark were all children of Daisy. Nell (who subsequently died in 23 Oct 1920, was Hester's. The other children I have are Lucille, Belle, and Champ. Since they don't show on either census, I figure they must have been born after 1920 and are the children of Hester. There is also a child named Glenda who was born in 1926 and died in 1927, on the list of people buried in Williams Cemetery--child of Hester and George Matt. I couldn't find a death certificate for her. Perhaps there wasn't one. >From the Williams book, Rocky Mount Baptist Church is located south of Eldon on State Hwy W and Y.The cemetery was known as the Union cemetery. When the Lake of the Ozarks was formed ,some of the graves from cemeeteries about to be inundated were moved to the east part of this cemetery and was named New Union by Union Electric Co. A lot of the moved graves were from unmarked gravessites and a number was assigned to them. There are metal markers showing where these graves were placed. There are numbers from 108 through 124 and 146 through 230.Some of the names were recorded and we have noted these names and numbers at the locations indicated by Union Electric. Otto Jobe told us that Everett Jobe gave the first land for the cemetery and he remembers that E E Hagerman ,wife of A E Hagerman ,who died 12 Jun 1912,Mrs J W McElroy who died 20 Nov 1912 and J W Bradhurst who died 12 Jun 1914,were among the first to be buried here.
