    3. Obituary: Jefferson City Post Tribune, Tuesday, February 26, 2002 Charles Edward "Ed" Davenport, 83, Versailles, died Feb. 24, 2002, at St. Mary's Health Center (Jefferson City). He was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Miller County, a son of George A. and Bitha Jane Lowery Davenport. He was married Feb. 1, 1941, to Berbia Mae Huff, who died April 15, 1997. He was a truck driver. He was a police officer for the city of Versailles and city marshal for the Stover Police Department. He was a member of the Missouri Sheriff's Association. Survivors include: four sons, James Davenport, Sedalia, Herschel Davenport, Plattsburg, Charles Davenport, Versailles, and David Davenport, St. Joseph; two daughters, Ruby Davenport, Versailles, and Sandra McKinzie, Gravois Mills; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One daughter, Evelyn Sue Davenport, preceded him in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Roy Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery near Eldon. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

A graduate of Jefferson City High School, she worked for the Missouri Farm Bureau. She also worked for Memorial Hospital as a dietitian. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Esher Circle of the church and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include: one daughter, Carol A. Crader, Jefferson City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One infant daughter, Mary Beth Tallman, and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Crader will officiate. Burial will be in Gott Cemetery in Ulman. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.
