Thanks Charlene, I don't know of any connections between the Wrights and Wests, or Downings, but you never know! I've never looked in Dade Co. Mo. before.. I'll check it out! I spend most of my time on wild goose chases...doesn't everyone? :) Thanks! Peg Peg, I don't want to lead you on a wild goose chase but there were lots of Wrights in Dade County MO and they are connected to my Downings and Wests in Miller County, and all three of these families were in IL. The Wrights married into my lines so I don't have enough of their family to help you but thought I would suggest that you check around Greenfield. Dade County has a list as well and were helpful to me. Charlene

Peg, I don't want to lead you on a wild goose chase but there were lots of Wrights in Dade County MO and they are connected to my Downings and Wests in Miller County, and all three of these families were in IL. The Wrights married into my lines so I don't have enough of their family to help you but thought I would suggest that you check around Greenfield. Dade County has a list as well and were helpful to me. Census Wright / Rodden - Family Question Nancy, I think Penny must have fallen asleep at her computer, but we have the same Wrights so I'll answer your question. Our Wrights were from the Brumley area, and as far as we know, not related to the Tuscumbia bunch, which is kind of a shame considering there is a lot more info on them..:) We know very little about them. They first showed up on the 1850 Miller Co. census. William B., wife Sarah, and William's mother, Margaret. The 1840 census shows a Richard Wright who could be the father, but who knows? William says he's from Illinois. His wife Sarah we believe was a Hays/Haze who was the stepdaughter of John Carlton. I was told by one of the "oldtimers" years ago, that William was called "Frenchy," and he made moonshine. That's about it! Peg Were your Wrights from the Brumley area. Did they have any ties to the Wrights from Tuscumbia/Eldon area? Miller County Historical Society planning to launch Web site Several members of the Miller County Historical Society, along with consultants from the Cole County Museum and other supporters, have been working on a new Web site that will be operated by the society. The site will be multi-linked to similar sites as well as the state tourism department, varioius geneaology groups and more. The society is seeking any historical information available from current and former Miller County residents with photos or written historical information about schoolhouses, cemeteries, architectural items, etc. Plans are to open the Web site with the history of churches in Miller County prior to 1935. Anyone who has information or photographs to share can contact Nancy Thompson via e-mail at beatku@mchsi.com; Doris Wiggins at dorisnjack@socket.net.
