Miller Co. Autogram May 2, 1912 Wreck on Bagnell Branch The freight train on the Bagnell Banch which was late Tuesday of last week, leaving Eldon about 6 o'clock p.m. wrecked near Jefferson City about 8:15 Tuesday night almost immediately after the signal whistle had been sounded. A car about the middle of the train left the track, turning on its side against the bank, and leaving some of its trucks on the track.Fortunately. the train had begun to check and the shock of the sudden stop was correspondingly light. The caboose was well illed with passengers, among them two women, one of whom soon after leaving the caboose to walk in, collapsed. MART SCRUGGS, was in charge of the train. The woman was taken care of and the passengers walked on into town, about half a mile to the street car line. Mr. D. F. THOMPSON who had such a close call with ALBRO STEPP and a Rock Island locomotive the Sunday before. D. Frazier (Thompson) says he just can't understand the apparent disposition of the railroads to "put him out of business"

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. My mistake, as I wrote before it was from memory. Mary Elizabeth Koetzner married Bernard "Rauschelbach" Buersmeyer. Christine was married to Theodore Adrian and did remarry to Bernard Suthoff after Theodore Adrian died in 1875. How are you related to Stub Holtmeyer? I just type them as I find them--scrap books, boxes, newspapers, wherever--so they aren't in date order and range all over the place. Marion Miller gave me a whole car load of old obits he had been saving, most from the 1990's, so that is the strongest representation. Verna Pemberton had many old obits she had been clipping and some that belonged to her mother. I am currently going through Maude Wright's scrapbooks and pulling obits from there. I think this becomes a disease! It would be nice if it were contagious. At Cole County, I've copied the obituaries and indexed them, but they aren't in a format that lends itself to posting on the web. They are in notebooks at the library and can be accessed on the days the library is staffed (right now that is Monday). I've pulled back involvement at Cole County in order to devote more time to Miller County so right now, there is no one doing obits at Cole. The Miller County obits have all been typed, so it is a simple matter to roll them into a PDF file and post them as a single document.
