Samuel Grant Heltzell Obituary Samuel Grant Heltzell was born May 3, 1866, at Glencoe, St. Louis county, Mo. He moved with the family to Miller Co. in 1883 but a year later went to St. Louis and began work as a bricklayer. About sixteen years ago he went to New York City and was engaged in the contracting business and remained there until the beginning of his illness which began with a paralytic stroke and a general nervous break down. In February, 1912, He was brought home to Iberia and June 21, 1912, was placed in St. Vincent Hospital, St. Louis where he died March 21, 1913. His remains were brought back to Iberia and buried. Rev Franz conducted the funeral services. The deceased leaves a father, brother, and two sisters to mourn their loss. The relatives have the deepest sympathy of the community. News Article/Obituary: The Miller County Sentinel, September 16, 1954 A well known Miller County woman, Mrs. Gertrude O. Maylee, 48, of Eldon, was killed instantly late Friday afternoon when her car overturned three times and hurtled over an embankment a short distance east of the intersection of highways 17 and 54. The State Highway Patrol said Mrs. Maylee, rounding a curve heading toward Eldon on highway 54, veered off on the right shoulder, lost control of the car, swung across the highway and turned over three times before the car went over the 12-foot embankment. Mrs. Maylee, who was traveling alone in the 1954 model car, was thrown from the vehicle, and died of head injuries. She was returning from Wellsville, Mo., where she was employed to teach school. For many years Mrs. Maylee taught in the rural schools of Miller County. Prior to moving to Eldon, she and her husband, R.B. (Bob) and their two children resided in Tuscumbia where Mr. Maylee was Circuit of Miller County for two terms. For the past several years Mr. Maylee has been employed by Clark Bros. of Eldon as a car and farm implement salesman. She was a graduate of Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg. Her daughter, Mrs. John Vernon, teaches school at Richland. Robert, a son, was recently discharged from the Navy and plans to entger the University of Missouri. Also surviving are her father, Theodore Martin of Ulman and a brother, Frank Martin of Tuscumbia. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Eldon Christian Church and interment was in the Tuscumbia Cemetery. Obituary Gertrude Olive Maylee was born near Ulman, Mo., January 22, 1907, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore F. Martin, and died September 10, 1954, from injuries resulting from an automobile accident near Eugene, Missouri. She lived in Miller County all of her life with the exception of three and a half years after her marriage spent in Atchison, Kansas. She attended Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, Mo., where she had been studying toward a degree in education. She had begun her 11th year of teaching when death came. Mrs. Maylee was a member of the Tuscumbia Christian Church, the Business and Professional Women's Club of Eldon, and the Miller Rebekah Lodge of Eldon. In 1953 and 1954 Mrs. Maylee taught in the elementary school system at Wellsville, Mo., and had begun her second year of teaching there at the time of her death. She was a devoted wife and mother and a well-known teacher in the schools of Miller County. She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Maylee, of Eldon; a daughter, Mary E. Vernon, a teacher in the Richland schools; a son Robert F. Maylee who has just completed a 4-years enlistment in the United States Navy; a brother, Frank C. Martin, of Tuscumbia, and her father, Theodore F. Martin, of Ulman. She was preceded in death by her mother several years ago and by a sister, Mrs. Arnold Shire, in October 1953.
Obituary: The New Iberian, Wednesday, October 13, 1982 Oscar E. Wilson, 77, passed away Monday, October 11, at Still Hospital, Jefferson City. Mr. Wilson was born November 3, 1904, at Iberia, the son of John and Rachel (Ponder) Wilson. He was married May 24, 1930, at Tuscumbia to Myrtle Barnett who survives. Mr. Wilson, along with his wife, owned and operated the Iberia Hardware for 35 years; he also was engaged in farming. He was a lifelong resident of the Iberia area and a member of the First Baptist Church, Iberia. Survivors besides his wife include 1 son, Walt Sherril Wilson, Iberia, and 2 granddaughters, Jennifer and Heather of Jefferson City, Mo. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 13 at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Shepherd officiating, with burial in the Livingston Cemetery.
Obituary: The New Iberian, Wednesday, October 13, 1982 Everett Keeth, 88, Iberia, died Thursday, October 7, 1982 at Pulaski County Hospital, Waynesville. Mr. Keeth was born October 6, 1894 at Iberia, a son of Jonathon and Louisa Stone Keeth. He was married July 21, 1921, at Tuscumbia, to Lena Bays, who survives of the home. He was a civil service worker at Fort Leonard Wood, retiring in 1965. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion Post number 105 in Iberia, the disabled American Veterans, the World War I Veterans Barracks number 1442 in Tuscumbia, and the I.O.O.F. Lodge number 108 at Crocker. He was a member of the Burnett Christian Church, Dixon. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 1982 at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Iberia. The Rev. Earl Jones officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia. I.O.O.F. services were held Friday evening under the auspices of Lodge number 108.

Mr. Kliethermes was born July 20, 1913 at St. Elizabeth, the son of Mathias and Genevieve Jaegers Kliethermes. On November 7, 1929, he was married at St. Elizabeth to Marie Evers, who survives at the home. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church at St. Elizabeth and the St. Joseph Sodality of the church. Other survivors include: two sons, Robert Kliethermes and Leroy Kliethermes, both of St. Elizabeth; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Kemna, St. Elizabeth; five brothers, Herbert Kliethermes, Albert Kliethermes, and Leo Kliethermes, all of St. Elizabeth, Ray Kliethermes, St. Anthony, and Norbert Kliethermes, Eugene; one sister, Mrs. Loraine Luebbert, St. Elizabeth; and seven grandchildren. A rosary was recited at 7:30 Friday, October 8 at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home, St. Elizabeth. Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 9 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerard Poelker officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

He was born February 23, 1925, a son of Oliver and Ollie Luttrell Duncan. He was married October 8, 1977, to Mae Morrow who survives at the home. Mr. Duncan, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was a farmer. He was a member of the VFW in Iberia. He was a member of the Mt. Union Church of Christ. Other survivors include: four sons, Doug Duncan and David Duncan, Iberia, Donald Duncan, Brumley, and Jeffrey Duncan, Ulman; four daughters, Mrs. Susan Witt, Ulman, Mrs. Ann Carroll, Waynesville, Mrs. Rita Hurt, Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Claudette Bond, Iberia; a stepson, James Sherrell, Stoutland; four step-daughters, Mrs. Billie Ash, Brumley, Mrs. Bobbie Smith, Holts Summit, Mrs. Janet Plemmons, Iberia, and Bessie Sherrell, Eldon; two brothers, Clyde Duncan, Eldon, and John Duncan, Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Zella Bohrn, Eldon, and Mrs. Maxine Brown, Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 11, 1982 at the Mt. Union Church of Christ. Burial was at the Mt. Union Cemetery with a military graveside service. Arrangements were under Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home, Iberia.

She was married October 23, 1948, at Iberia to Warren Wall, who survives of the home. She worked for several years for the Central Missouri Turkey Hatchery at Eldon. She was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Iberia. Other survivors include: one son, Gene Skokowski, Eldon; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Bonnot, Eldon, and Mrs. Judy Costigan, Tuscumbia; two brothers, Alton Wickham and Wayne Wickham, both of Eldon; two sisers, Mrs. Alfreda Medley, Columbus, Georgia, and Mrs. Mary Reed, Eldon; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 1982 at the Fairview Christian Church, with Brother Floyd Barlow officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia. Services were under the direction of Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home, Iberia.
Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, March 12, 1932 Berthal Martin McBroom was born August 15, 1924 near Enon, Mo. He resided there one and one-half years before coming to Hanna City, where he has since made his home. He had just completed the third grade in school where he was known as a diligent student. He attended the Methodist Sunday school whenever it was possible for him to go. The deceased was aged 8 years, 8 months, and 5 days. He will always be remembered by his sunny and loveable disposition, his kindness to others, and his thoughtfulness for his beloved parents. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert McBroom, his twin brother, Herschel, with whom he was always seen, two other brothers, Dorsey and Morris, and two sisters, Eileen and Wanda; also his little nephew, Marvin McBroom, whom he loved as a brother. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B.F. Dinwiddie and interment was made in Olean Cemetery.
Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, March 12, 1932 William C. Meador, was born Nov. 17, 1843 and died May 7, 1932, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. C. Wyss of Enon. Mr. Meador came to Missouri with his parents when he was nine years old and grew to manhood on a farm near Russellville. He united with the Cole Spring Baptist Church at the age of eighteen and later transferred his membership to Rock Enon Church where he lived a faithful willing worker in the organization and attended church services whenever possible. Mr. Meador was married to Mary R. Amos Feb. 23, 1865. She preceded him in death March 14, 1875. To this union were born Rosa C. Meador who died July 20, 1887, Mrs. Anna E. Wyss, who survives and one son who died in infancy. April 17, 1879, Mr. Meador was again married to Mrs. Eliza Massey, who died April 8, 1929. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nancy Amos of Russellville, one daughter, Mrs. Anna Wyss of Enon, one foster daughter, Mrs. Gail Weaver of Enon, two grandchildren, Mrs. Henry Wirth of Kansas City, Mo., and Clarence Shadwick at the Wyss home where Mr. Meador has been living since Mrs. Meador died three years ago. There are four great-grandchildren. The five flower girls for the funeral were Lois Dean and Helen Mae Wirth, Wilma Jean Wyss, Frances Kathern Wyss, and Carmen Brooks Weaver. The pallbearers were Henry Wirth, J. Fred Wyss, Martin Wyss, Luther Cook, Charles Thompson, and Gail Weaver. Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, at 10:30 at the Rock Enon Baptist Church by Rev. R. L. Hood. Interment was made in the Enloe Cemetery.

Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, March 12, 1932 Clara Louise Morris, only daughter of Less and Bernice Burris Morris, was born on her grandmother's farm near Prairie Home, Mo., May 20, 1918 and die May 3, 1932. She united with the church and was baptized Oct. 18, 1931. Miss Morris' death was caused from burns when a can of kerosene exploded while she was trying to kindle a fire. She was a bright girl, idolized by the family and was to have graduated from the Eighth Grade in school last week. She is survived by her parents, two brothers, Dorsey and T.J. Morris, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burris and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Morris. She was a granddaughter of Mrs. Alpha McDow Burris, who is a sister of J.T. McDow of Barnett and Joe McDow of Versailles. Funeral services were held near Prairie Home.
Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, March 12, 1932 James Shelton Russell was born Oct. 11, 1855 and died May 8, 1932. He was married to Nancy Amy Farmer March 8, 1878. To this union eight children were born five of whom are living, Lillie Russell, Albert Russell, Ernest Russell, Ray Russell and Mrs. Deltie Cassidy, all of Olean. There are eight grandchildren, seven of whom are living and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Russell became a member of the Mount Herman Church in 1917. Forty-seven years of his life was spent on a farm near this church to which he was a devoted Christian.
Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, March 12, 1932 Mrs. Annie Louise Hurley, wife of A.J. Blakeman, died Monday morning, April 24, 1932, at the family home on Oak Street in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Blakeman were pioneer New England stock and came from Connecticut to the Middle-West fifty years ago, establishing their first home in Eldon, Mo. Two daughters were born there, Mrs. Mae Blakeman Kiely and Miss Della. For nineteen years the Blakemans were identified with religious and civic life of Eldon; loved and honored for their sterling qualities and deep interest in the welfare of their adopted home. In 1901 the family moved to California which has been their home ever since, where they have always stood for what is most worth while in the community. Surviving are her husband; two daughters; one grandchild, Mary Elizabeth Kiely, and two sisters, Mrs. Bebe McNamara, Waterbury, Conn., and Mrs. Elizabeth Richardson, New York City.

Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser, Thursday, March 12, 1932 John T. Dresser, formerly of Miller County, died at his home in Chicago, Saturday, April 21. He was born near Mount Pleasant, Mo., April 14, 1869. He spent his boyhood days in this county and later entered the service of the Postal Telegraph Company by which he was employed for nearly thirty-one years. Twenty-eight years of this time was spent in Chicago where he held a responsible position in charge of the dynamo plant there. Through the years he gained the esteem of many fellow employees and officers of the company who paid respect as they thronged to the home and sent beautiful floral pieces as tribute. One of the officials said, "John was loved by everyone at the Postal Plant." He was a good husband, a good father, and a friendly neighbor. Mr. Dresser is survived by his wife, one son, and three daughters.

Buckman, 49, one of the best known and best-loved of Eldon women, died early Monday morning in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, where she ahd been receiving treatment for about a month, undergoing two major operations. She had been in ill health for about two years. Her daughter, Mrs. Olin Moore, has been employed for several years on the staff of the Eldon Advertiser. Besides her husband, daughter, and son-in-law, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rice G. Maupin of Shelbina, Mo.; four brothers, Byron Maupin of San Diego, Calif., Paul Maupin of Shelbina, Temple Maupin of Nacadoshia, Texas, and Bob Maupin of Shelbina; and three sisters, Mrs. A.R. Lundin of Orion, Ill.; Mrs. D.R. Whitmore of Webster Groves, and Miss Rice Maupin of Shelbina. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. Noyes O. Bartholomew, pastor of the Congregational Church of Eldon. Both were buried in the Eldon Cemetery. Elizabeth Woods Maupin was born near Shelbina, May 17, 1882 and united with the Methodist Church of Shelbina in her youth. She was married to Delbert C. Buckman, Sept. 23, 1903. Mr. and Mrs. Buckman moved to Eldon in 1912, Mr. Buckman being employed on the Rock Island during his entire twenty years of residence.
