I was born in Humphrey's hospital in 1955. Dr. Marshall Humphreys and his brother Dr. Stanley were real assets to the area. Dr. Marshall's untimely death in an automobile accident while vacationing in the south (Alabama?) was quite a shock and dealt a blow to the hospital. By then his son in law Dr. Howard was practicing there also, but it was no too long before the hospital became a clinic. The clinic was in operation yet in 1996 when my mother passed away there of a massive heart attack. The Iberia Sentinel, September 1937 Funeral services will be held here at the Pentecostal Church this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2:00 o'clock for Mrs. John G. Rowden, who died at her home in Strang, Oklahoma early Tuesday morning, September 15. The body, brought here by undertaker Mr. Green of Strang, accompanied by her aged husband, son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Lawson, and their two children, arrived here Wednesday morning and lay in state it he Adams & Casey undertaker parlors until time of funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Rowden were residents of Miller County prior to their moving to Oklahoma a number of years ago. For several years Mrs. Rowden had been afflicted with cancer, the direct cause of her death. She is survived by her aged husband; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Lawson of Strang, Oklahoma, and one son, Willis Rowden of Iberia. Mrs. Rowden was a sister of the late M.J. Davidson of Iberia. Interment is to be made in the Brays Cemetery northeast of Iberia.

The Iberia Sentinel, December 1936 Mrs. Reuben Hendricks, well known woman of south Miller County who had been afflicted with dropsy and heart trouble for the past few years, died at the home of her brother Alex Snelling, Monday, at the age of 78 years. She is survived by four sons, Bert, Ora, Perry and Clyde, and a daughter. Funeral services were held at the Gott Church Tuesday afternoon and burial made in the cemetery at that place under direction of the Adams & Casey funeral service of Iberia. The body of Mrs. Hendricks' husband, who died about six years ago and was buried through a mistake outside of the family lot, was exhumed and placed in a new box and buried along side of Mrs. Hendricks in the same grave. G.W. Adams, senior member of the Adams & Casey undertaking firm, supervised the disinterment and burial of the body.

The Obit for Charles Brody Snelling ......I was the one that finally found the OBIT & posted it on this site.  At the time I also asked if anyone might know who the daughter Mrs. Stone/Stoner mentioned might be and since Lucy Viola was the only daughter left, it was suggested by someone that she must be the Mrs. Stone/Stoner.  I have since found that Lucy Viola Snelling married Louis L. Buckner in 1914 & thought I should send over this info to clarify.  Because I had an exact date of birth & death for Lucy Viola Snelling on my old chart, I knew I had to have found it somewhere.  I went back to my old Snelling paper file and started digging thru.  Found an 1989 Family Group Chart from a David Buckner and realized that was where I had gotten my original dates for her. David Buckner (grandson of Lucy Viola) also had the names/dates of her parents listed & her siblings.  Also listed from another Buckner descendant are the dates for Louis Letheldred Buckner and the burial info and also the dates for Lucy Viola Snelling. Then I found their Missouri marriage record in 1914; even thou they had indexed her surname incorrectly on the listing. L. L. & Viola Buckner ..1920 MO, Camden Co, Osage L. L. & Lucy V. Buckner...1930 MO, Morgan Co, Osage....Lucy is 49 married @32. Mrs Viola Buckner of Phoenix, AZ is listed on Charles Thomas Snelling OBIT, her brother. And then I found this: Wilma Turley, was born 3 May 1923, in Woodruff, Navajo, Arizona. She was married 30 January 1939, to James Lewis Buckner, who was born 20 May 1915, in Wayham or Eldon, Miller, Missouri, a son of Louis L. Buckner and Lucy Viola Snelling.
