    1. [MOMILLER] Struemph/Humphrey - death notice
    2. Nancy & Jerry Thompson
    3. Unknown Publication, April 1935 Adolph Struemph Returning from work in a St. Louis factory, Mrs. Grace Struemph found her husband, Adolph, shot and fatally wounded on the bedroom floor of their home 20-_6a Cleveland Boulevard at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. She summoned neighbors and rushed him to ST. Elizabeth's Hospital in an ambulance where he died a few minutes later in the emergency room without regaining consciousness. The bullet had entered his head just above the right ear, lodging in the brain. Mrs. Struemph said she discovered her husband a moment after arriving home. It was not known how long he had lain wounded and alone on the floor, but Mrs. Edward Ennis, who occupies the downstairs apartment, said she heard a report and the sound of a falling object sometime around 4:30 pm., but paid no attention to it. Less than a foot from Struemph's right hand was a new .22 calibre snub nosed revolver. The nine chambers were loaded with .22 long cartridges and one had been discharged. Nearly a full box of bullets was found in a bureau drawer in the bedroom. Mrs. Struemph said her husband had never owned a revolver and she was not aware that he had one until she saw it on the floor beside his body. She did not know when or where he had acquired it. Both the police and the widow believe Struemph committed suicide. While he had never threatened to take his own life, she said he had been under a St. Louis physician's care for some time due to a stomach disorder. He was also greatly worried about his elderly father, John Struemph, who is in a critical condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo., following an operation. Mrs. Struemph said. They had gone there last weekend to visit him. Struemph, who was 32 years old, had steady employment at the Granite City Steel Co. and worked until 3 p.m. on the day of his death. He had evidently gone home, loaded the revolver from the new box of cartridges, and killed himself. Two sisters of Mrs. Struemph, Misses Ethel and Crethen Humphrey, who live at the Cleveland Boulevard address, were away and did not arrive home until after the body was found. The remains were taken Saturday from Mercer's Funeral Home to St. Elizabeth, Mo., where interment was made.

    1. [MOMILLER] Carl Parker Casey - obituary
    2. Nancy & Jerry Thompson
    3. The Iberia Sentinel, January 1935 Iberia citizens were shocked Tuesday morning of this week when the news reached here that Parker Casey, a former Iberia boy, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., early that morning following an operation for appendicitis. Parker had been to Little Rock, Ark., to visit his little daughter and on his return home Wednesday night, January 2nd, he suffered an attack of appendicitis. After reaching Kansas City he was rushed to the hospital early Wednesday morning where he underwent an operation. For a few days following the operation his condition seemed to be satisfactory, but poison complications set up which, in spite of attention by skilled physicians, proved fatal. Carl Parker Casey, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Casey, was born in Iberia January 23, 1905. He spent his boyhood days here with his parents who were among our best and most influential citizens for many years prior to their moving to Kansas City. Parker was considered a strong, young man-the very picture of health, but again his passing reminds us of the fact that the grim Reaper of Death takes the strong as well as the weak. His body is being brought back here today and will lay in state at the home of his brother, C.L. Casey, until Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock when funeral services will be held from the Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. John Phillips, Dr. G. Byron Smith and Rev. P.J. Eckhoff, after which interment will be made in the family burial lot in the town cemetery. The deceased is survived by his little daughter; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Casey; brothers Clint and Clark, and sisters, Mrs. Phillip Judy and Mrs. Josephene Drew, all of Kansas City, and brother, C.L. Casey, and sister, Mrs. Earl Irwin, both of Iberia. His father, who is in West Palm Beach, Florida, for the benefit of his health, will not be able to attend the funeral.

    1. Re: [MOMILLER] McClasky/Schooley/McCubbin - obituary
    2. Nancy & Jerry Thompson
    3. The "sister of Oscar McCubbin" may be an error. That was what kept throwing me off. The obit and the second death certificate (don't know how I overlooked that) says he was buried in Hawkins Cemetery. The person buried with him there is Ina Schooley, daughter of Obed Schooley and Martha Ann Henry. The informant on Ina's death certificate is Mrs. Oscar McCubbins of Brumley. James Oscar McCubbin was married to Eliza May Schooley 20 Nov 1902 and he and his wife are also buried at Hawkins Cemetery. So I'm going to surmise that McClasky's wife was the sister-in-law rather than the sister of Oscar McCubbins. It helps to have a fresh look in the a.m. Thanks for your clue.
