    3. Good Evening! I want to thank you for the wonderful file you sent me, I just printed it out and it was 27 pages long! I also recently received some tidbits of information from a "cousin". In it, there are excerpts from "Mercer County Pioneer Traces, VOL I " page 12. Without going through the entire list of Old Settlers, Samuel Brown is listed as one of the early settlers of Mercer County, along with Benjamin, John, Thomas and Robert Brown, who we believe may be Samuel's brothers. Their parents were John Brown and Priscilla Essman. If this is the Samuel brown who married Hiley Petree, they were married in Ray Co abt 1834. I believe they moved to Mercer Co abt 1843. I was very interested to note that the Pioneer Traces also mentioned that Samuel and Thomas Brown built the first mill in Mercer county. Is there more information available about this mill? It also mentioned that Samuel Brown was a soldier in the Black Hawk War. I don't know much about this war except that it was fought in Illinois apparently. I would truly appreciate it if you can elaborate on any of this information. If I can help you with anything, I would be glad to share what we have learned about this family. Thank you again for all your time and effort! Wanda spegal
