I'm adding some more obits from this old yard sale book. "OBITUARY. Our beloved father Wm. Mason, fell aslelep in Jesus Sunday morning, December 15, 1895, aged 73 years. He died of heart failure. He leaves a wife, one son and five daughters, who feel his loss more bitterly than tongue can express. His suffering from Tuesay to Wednesday was severe, after which he sufficiently recovered on Saturday morning to come to the table to eat and offer up a prayer for his family, also to walk to the barn. My last talk with him was Friday morning and he said, 'my work is finished, I have nothing more to do. I have studied hard to think if there was anything left for me to do, or to make right, and I can not think of one thing. If I could think of one thing I am ready and willing to restore four fold, but I cannot think of a single thing left undone,' and when retiring to bed Saturday evening, he said to mother, 'If I to-night could only fall asleep in Jesus.' "This we feel sure he did, for all who knew him know what a constant christian he has been. He has gone on before and now awaits our coming. Our old home on earth is broken up forever, but it is being rapidly reorganized in heaven. "'Blessed, are the dead that die in the Lord, from henceforth. Yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them.' The great and good fade and pass from us, yet his memory is enshrined in sacred affection, and his example let us try to reproduce in Godly and devoted lives. L. M. H." (The following comes from the 1986 Mercer County cemetery book by Joe Dale Linn: "William R. Mason Sgt Co B 5th Kan Cav died Dec. 15, 1895 aged 73 y 1 m 17 d; Hannah, his wife died Jan. 1, 1900 aged 66 y 1 m 22 d." These listings are from the Fairley Cemetery--JV) "OBITUARY. Eural, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Cotchell died of dyptheria, Thursday, Dec. 12, 1895, at the hour of 7:30 a.m., aged 10 months and 8 days. "Brother and Sister Cotchell extend their many thanks to the friends who rendered asistance in their sad hour of bereavement. R. H. K." (From the Ravanna Cemetery in the Doe Dale Linn cemetery book are these listings for this family: "Ural, son of A. & A.C. Cochell died Dec. 12, 1895 aged 10 m 8 d; Hadley B., son of A. & A.C. William Collings was born in Putnam county, Indiana, April 8, 1842, passed from death unto life February 15, 1893. He was born of Methodist Protestant parents and among the very first of his instructions was to have regard for the church of his mother, and was converted and joined the church at the age of twelve years, so that he ended forty years of his life as a member of said church. "When a mere boy in 1850, he moved with his parents to Mercer county, in Ravanna township, where he has ever since lived. "On October 15, 1861, he married Miss Mary E. Gannon, of Mercer county, Missouri. To this union six children were born of which four are still living, two sons and two daughters. "As a citizen he stood high being honorable and true to his many friends. As a husband he bore his part of home toils faithfully and as a father he aimed to do the best for the children, both spiritually and temporally. "Thus the church has lost one among her strongest pillows both spiritually and financially, the wife a devoted husband and the children a true father; but we trust that in the golden summer of another life, parents and children will meet again in a sweet reunion, where partings are unknown. Though the days are dark now spring will come again. "It was his request that Brother A. J. Berry of the M. P. church should preach a funeral sermon to his memory, selecting for his text the latter part and last clause of 54th and 55th verses of the 15th chapter of Paul's letter to first Corinthians. "The remains were followed to the Collings cemetery where all that was mortal of Brother William Collings was laid to rest in the presence of a large concourse of people, supposed to be about four-hundred in number. So ends the earthly career of a good man. JESSE EVANS." (Under the Collings Cemetery listings in Joe Dale Linn's cemetery book, neither William nor Mary E. are listed, but there are two children with them listed as the parents. "Florence, dau of William & M. E. Collings died Nov. 7, 1862 aged 3 m 7 d; Jennie, dau of William & M. E. Collings died Feb. 10, 1874 aged 1 y 8 m 4 d."--JV)
