    3. Lisa, In your research, have you come across anything about an Opal McLaughlin that married a Finis Tipton? Those are my great grandparents, and my brick wall. Grandma Opal passed away a year ago, so I have no way of getting any further information for her side of the family. If you do have some info, it may be helpful! 3. Hello list I made a trip to the Trenton, MO Library today and thought I would post some of what I found....If any one ties in with any of this information please contact me and maybe we can exchange some information. this is part of my family line, and will maybe help someone else also. Lisa Mrs. Sara Angeline Roberts was born in Powshick county Iowa, April 1 1855. At the age of 3 years she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Roberts to Mercer county, MO, where she lived until her marriage to William Monk, Which occured Sept 7, 1873. To this union four children were born MInnie, Dan, Alli and Lenna. Dan and Lenna having preceded her to the grave. She was left a widow by the death of her husband July 1881. At the age of 25 years she united with the church of which she lived a faithful member until her death. She was united in marriage to Collins McLaughlin Feb. 1884. To this union, two children were born, Nellie and rosie, rosie having died in early childhood, Nellie living at home with her parents. She leaves a husband, three daughters,an aged mother, five brothers, three sisters, and a host of friends to mourn her departure. She was a devoted wife and mother and a helping friend to every one. She will be greatly missed in the community where she lived for the many acts of charity and kindness denoted a true christian character. She died at the Wright Hospital following an operation for appendicitis. On Friday evening at 6:15 o'clock the gloom that hung like a pall over her home, deepened into the deepest sorrow, when the sad news was whispered that her spirit had taken its flight. Death triumphed over medical skill, and all the best of nursing, and tender care could do. the remains were taken to her home near Parkerton where the funeral was conducted by Rev. Roberts of the Christian Church. Interment was made at the Sires cemetery, there in the silent city, under weeping skies, was laid to rest to wait the resurrerction morn. God knows the way. He holds the key. He guides us with unerring hand; Sometime with tearless eyes we'll see, Yes there, up there we'll understand. (Obituary from the Trenton Daily Republican and Tribune Dec 20 1916.
