The family lived in the Fairview community. The old home place is gone now, but it was located on the west side of the road, a quarter-mile north of where Matt and Mark Covey now live. I (Jack E. Goodin) can remember going on Sundays to their house for dinner. A lot of their furniture was made out of split logs for benches, etc. They had a covered well with a windlass to draw water. I always wanted to draw the water. After a large meal, many of the men and boys in the community gathered to play cards and pool in an old two-room house west of where Mike Covey now lives. The men and boys used it like a community center. I (Jack Goodin) can remember, as a young boy, how I enjoyed going to Grandpap and Granny's and meeting all my great-uncles and aunts. Andrew and Beth are buried in the Fairview Cemetery. Andrew had lived 55 years on his farm when he died. Submitted by Jack E. In that wonderful cemetery listing you posted there was the name J. H. Barritt My gggg aunt Virginia "Jennie" Hart married a James H. Barrett on 16 March 1846 in Mercer County, Missouri. Jennie died in 1849. I do not know if James remarried or had children. I have that he died in 1899 and is buried in Old Tennessee Cem, Morgan Twp, Mercer Co, MO. Does anyone on this list, including the nice person who typed up the cemetery list, know of any relation to any of those other Barretts in the cemetery or anything else about James?
Yes, I know of James H. Barritt, he was my Gr. grandfather. I also descend from Peter Hart, and his dau. Rebecca Hart Hart. Mary Yakima, Wa. marylkinney@webtv.net
