Robert Ashcroft, my great grandfather, was born in Ireland in 1832. My grandfather, John Robert Ashcroft, was born in Princeton, Mercer Co. Mo. in 1865. Whew!!! I think it is correct? Betty

    2. Jerry, I was wrong again; I just thought I had all the data Hayes data that was significate to me. The data I just received from you has confirmed some iffy information I was guessing at and went back 2 generations further. My data is different, in some cases, such as dates, but I have found even birth certificates and tombstone dates can be wrong also. I am wondering; Are you related to Jimmie L. Jones who married Rena Hayes in 1907? My family data is all in 1 file. It is hard to extract just one family. I did it this way so I could find relational connections between familys. I have found familial blood relationships no one in my family ever knew about. A large percentage of the old family names in Mercer and Wayne Counties are inter-related. I could send you my complete data base. It has more than 3000 names. I believe Ronald Lee Vaughn of Tucson, Az. sent you his data. We are 2nd cousins and corresponded quite a lot on his Vaughn family Regards ott owens

    3. I have a suggestion. How about posting the obituaries to the proper County Message board? Those for Mercer Co. will be gatewayed, I believe, so the list members will be able to see them. The others, in neighboring counties, one can see by looking only at Obituaries on the Message Boards. Since you can also sort by date, and search by surnames (be sure to list all the surnames in the obit in the surname line, NOT the surnames the poster is researching), they will be easily retrievable by all interested researchers. The MOMercer board: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/rw/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.mercer My two cents, Valorie Joan Bell wrote: > > I disagree, please post all Obits through the Mercer County List and I have > relatives there with a lot of different names. I know this is a list for Mercer Co., but Walter and the rest of his family were from Mercer Co., although he died in Trenton. I thought I would post it. I also have an obituary for Walter's wife Hulda, and his father Isaac if anyone is interested. Jerry, could you send me your file on Walter? He was my great-grandfather, but I haven't tracked down all his details yet. Thanks for your offer and I hope this helps someone! Robert J. Powell rjpowell72@yahoo.co.uk --------------------- Trenton Republican-Times; Wednesday, February 4, 1942: Mill Grove Man Dies In Trenton Of Burns Walter Powell of northwest of Mill Grove died at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Cullers hospital here as the result of severe burns he suffered earlier in the day. Mr. Powell, who was working outside his farm home Tuesday morning, attracted the attention of neighbors working about a quarter of a mile away by his screams. They saw him running through a pasture near the house with his clothing in flames. By the time they reached him, most of his clothes were burned from his body and he had fallen to the ground unconcious. He was taken to a doctor in Spickard for treatment and then brought to Cullers hospital. It is not known how his clothing caught on fire. Mr. Powell, who was 52 years old, was a son of Isaac and Loretta Powell and was born in Mercer county in 1889. He was married to Hulda Vanderpool who died this winter. He is survived by four children, Mrs. Thelma Gibler of Tarkio, Mrs. Beulah Wilson of Spickard, Wilma Dean Powell of the home; one sister, Mrs. Lily Cremeens of Trenton, and one brother, Jim Powell, also of Trenton. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Thursday at Salem church west of Mill Grove and burial will be there. The body is at the Schooler Funeral Home in Spickard. Jerry Jones wrote: > > 1.
