His father was John Douglas McDonald and family legend says that he was born in Scotland. Hugh had the following siblings: Donald, Angus, Mary and Kate. He and his brother Donald ranched in Saskatchewan near Regina for 3 years in the 1870's. G. Grandfather Hugh migrated to Louisiana and became a naturalized citizen in about 1875 or so. He and my G. Grandmother Rebeccah Rozella Anne Jones were married at West Fork, Louisiana September 14, 1876. G. Grandfather's brother Donald's wife was named Flora and they had 2 sons and a daughter. The daughter was the postmistress in Regina for most of her working life. I have descended from these people by: Mary Elizabeth Susan McDonald (daughter of Hugh and Rebecca) who married James Martin Bond. Their daughter Mildred Beatrice Bond (my mother) married Abner Miller Glass. I am their youngest child and am married to Ronald Ray Grant.
