I guess patience is a virtue. Here is most of the info I have. It has been so long that I have been unable to find some of my stuff and I have forgotten some of it. I have Simon Whitt DOB 1833 possibly in Virginia. Elizabeth (West) Whitt 1834 POB unknown (poss. Indiana). Her parents (maybe) Richard West born about 1800 in Ky and was a farmer. Possibly his wife Margaret born about 1802 in Indiana. Possible sister Mary born about 1837. Martha Jane Whitt DOB 1855 (exact date ?) in Putnam Co. Mo.Died 1944 and is buried in the GAR Cemetary Sulfur Springs, Ark. According to legend Simon served under General Sterling Price during the Civil War. Mrtha Jane Whitt was married 3 times. First was FNU Williams. I have no idea what happened to this guy or the marriage. In fact Williams is all the info I have. Second was a William Preston. Don't know much more than that except he is ggrandmothers father. He may have fallen off a scaffold while building a hotel in Noel, Mo. My Dad said he thought there may have been a rope around his neck when he fell but I think that was just his sense of humor. My grandmother Eulalah nee Preston was born in Tahlequah, Okla. Territory 5-15-1885 Died in Fresno Ca. 5-15-1985 her 100th birthday. She had 2 sisters by Martha Janes third husband Ball (no further info on him) One sister was Hal and she died a spinster the other was Cora. She had a boy and a girl. The only info I have on them is that he was supposedly killed in WW1. These sisters were very close and this closeness was guarded by Martha Jane. To my knowledge there were no other siblings. Eulalah, my grandmother, married James David Wentz and there were 6 children born of this union. This is about the gist of my info. Please reply to me at [email protected] it will make it a lot simpler, at least for me. Thanks and looking forward to your reply Ron Wentz Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
