Alexander was born December 1830 in Illinois, had one brother Solomon born in 1828 and his Mother's name was Fanny. Fanny married Robert Rankin as her second husband in Pike County, Illinois. The 1880 census for Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri lists Alexander and his wife Elizabeth Jane Dale and children Solomon (21); Elizabeth (20); Fannie (20) and others.
