    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Jenn_Downs Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.mcdonald/2818.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Ha, I'm replying to my own message. I've managed to find some information and it appears that there was a fire. My guess is that both Hannah Downs and Dr Johnson were fatally injured or killed outright in a house fire sometime before Sep 8 1906. Are there any old newspapers dating from that time? 3. Yes, many of the local papers are on microfilm. I don't know about 1906. Check the McDonald Co Library. I looked at their genealogy section and found only two Downs and they didn't match the date. I did find a Cordia Johnson who died on 3-16-1906. Since I had no first name, I wasn't sure if it was a match. The library site is www.mcdonaldcountylibrary.org. Phone number is 417-223-4468. You will find them very helpful.
