I found 10 Cheneys in the marriage records - the earliest was 1883. Might be one of your family. Obits are also online there, but for some reason, I couldn't access them this morning. If they moved away, you might try Oklahoma records. They might have gone there for land when it opened up. It is on the McDonald Co. border.
