It is where the Elk River (formerly called Cowskin) enters OK from MO. It is named for Tiff, a by product of mining. I don't know if there was ever an official Tiff City, OK, but borders were pretty fluid before OK became a state. DeKalb Co. is about 50 miles north of Kansas City, so about 250 miles from Tiff City. Quite a treck and lots of streams to cross. Not an easy trip, but there was a trail that went along the western border of MO that is now U.S 69. Also there was a RR line, the Kansas City Southern that served this area. I am not familiar with the Mallory family name, but I had relatives who lived in Tiff City named Epperson, MaGhee and Carnell Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
