    3. Keep in mind that before the removal, the five civilized tribes were in the southeast. Try the spelling Tyner. Google search Choctaw Tiner/Tyner but don't specify Oklahoma until you've done it the other way or you might miss it. Also go to NARA Native American Choctaw Rolls/Tiner. Another good site for Native American research that is free is accessgenealogy.com Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 07, 2010 4:34 AM Subject: Re: [MOMcDona] Edmond & Lucinda Tiner > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: sandratiner246 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.mcdonald/1177.1344.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I have just started a family tree for my husband. Both Walter & Nancy were from Indian Springs (northern part of McDonald County) and that's where the Tennisons were during that time period, some of them settling later in Goodman (not far away.) 3. White Rock was the name of the community and Jane was the name of the Post Office. The community incorporated a few years ago as "Jane", but the school is still the White Rock School. There is no longer a Post Office there, so go figure. :-) It is about 14 miles by road to get from our cabin on Big Sugar Creek that is very near my family's old farm. If you go "over the hill", it is less than 3 miles. My grandmother used to walk or ride a horse back & forth to visit old friends after they moved to the farm near here. The Haney name isn't one I remember hearing talked about, but the person who asked for help was pretty sparing with clues. Hope you are all well. We are enjoying spring though right now it is pouring down rain. It will make the grass grow faster. Sigh. You will find John Lewis Ash on several family trees. One of them shows his father to be a Jacob E Ash b 1816 d 1860, wife was Edy A Unknown b 1826. Most of the trees don't show any parents for him. I found John on several census reports but you probably already have that information. Darrell this week to see if i can find him on ancestry...when i tried back in oct last year...didnt find anything on him....but will try again...if i find him i'll try to trace it back. Thanks. Keep in touch. I have not done any research on him. Let me know if you find him on Ancestry. Darrell In a message dated 4/12/2010 8:23:08 A.M. Uncle Lewis said they came from Virginia and that John Ash's dad came out of the woods one day and decided to be a white man and took the ly off. I have found a George Ash that did that same thing who ran a boat across the Ohio river at the forks. He was married to an indian woman named She Bear. I wondered if this could be our ggggrandpa. Have you found anything further back? What do you think. Glad you are doing ok. Did the Ash show up in your DNA? I would think it would have and could be cross linked and give us some info. Glad to know you're doing ok. I have been just fine. Still actively researching every spare moment I have. I have joined a Thurman DNA project and have discovered several Thurman "cousins" that are all related to me back in the early 1700's in Virginia. Very interesting. How can I help you?
