    3. Obituary - "Home Advisor" - Vienna, Maries County, Missouri, Nov. 11, 1937: "Mrs. Mary Schulte of Brinktown, died Nov. 1, 1937, well prepared with the rites of Holy Mother Church, at the grand old age of 98 years and 29 days. Mrs. Mary Schulte, better know to the community as "Grandma Schulte, " was born in Paderborn, Germany on October 2, 1839, * and came to this country when she was nine years old, with her parents. They lived 8 miles southwest of Westphalia. After the Civil War, in 1865, on May 2, she was married to Henry Schulte, of Westphalia. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1900.** To this union 10 children were born, namely: Conrad of the home place, Mrs. William Albers of Minnesota, Henry of Folk, George of Oregon, Mrs. Anna Doerhoff of St. Elizabeth, Herman of this place, Mrs. Joseph Kleffner, also of Brinktown, Mrs. Ben Rehagen of Westphalia and two sons preceded her in death, Joseph who died in infancy, and John who preceded her in death six years ago. Besides her eight children, deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. Jos. Heiman, and one brother, Herman Rehagen, and 33 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. For the past 31 years, Mrs. Schulte made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Kleffner. Mrs. Schulte was known in this community for her piety and kindness, for she had a kind word and smile for everyone who came in contact with her, and was always ready to lend a helping hand until the feebleness of old age overtook her. A fine tribute to the departed was in evidence at the funeral when the Church edifice was crowded with sympathizers. The body was in charge of Undertaker, Herman Strope, of Meta. Funeral services were held in Guardian Angel Church Wednesday morning. After a Requiem High Mass and services, the remains were laid to rest in the parish cemetery. We sympathize profoundly with the bereaved children and relatives. Those in attendance at the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heiman, Mr. Herman Rehagen, Mrs. Anna Doerhoff and son, Mrs. Frank Kemna and family, all of St. Elizabeth, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rehagen and family of Westphalia, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rehagen and son, Mr. Clem Rehagen of Jefferson City, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schulte and son, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Baumhoer of Folk, Mrs. Ray Buchheit and three children, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kleffner, Cornelius Kleffner, Mrs. Joe Schloss, Miss Agnes Kleffner, all of St. Louis, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. John Krieg and daughter of Rich Fountain, Missouri." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Discrepancies in the above obituary: *Mary Rehagen was born Sept. 18, 1842 in Sudhagen, Westfalen, Germany (this is in the Paderborn Diocese) ** Henry Schulte died February 6, 1901.
