    3. The following from "A History of The Post Offices and Postmasters of Maries County, Missouri" published by The Historical Society of Maries County. Broadway "There was a post office established on Jan. 25, 1898 called Broadway with Edward L. John appointed as its first postmaster. On Aug. 14, 1903, Alexander H. John was appointed to the office, and on July 14, 1913, Marcus A. Moreland was appointed Postmaster. When the office was closed on Oct. 15, 1921 the mail started going to the Safe office. The location of the office was on the SE quarter of Section 17, Township 39 North, Range 7 West, being on the route from Rolla to Vichy. Its location is shown as four miles west of Safe and three and one half miles east of Vichy." This location in Section 17 is very near the current Broadway Baptist Church. Broadway has been known as Hopewell, Lone Star and (I think) Stoney Point before becoming Broadway in 1903. The church building and cemetery is located on MO 68 between US 63 and St. James.
