Wow....Mary Ann Gray that was married to Albert Curtis (he was the son of William Curtis and later he married Susan Ehrhart Moreland widow of Jacob Moreland). Samuel Gray who married Sarah Margaret Shinkle (she was the daughter of Philip Shinkle and Emma Curtis (daughter of William Curtis)). I found that Sarah died in Maries County in 1926. Why were they in Madison County, Indiana in 1880. Well, there are strong ties there....William Curtis (docter), Philip Shinkle,Samuel Shinkle, Ellias Hollinsworth, Joseph Barnes (father of George Barnes), and Peter Ehrhart were all there about 1830ish to 1840ish. A court house fire about 1880, makes it hard to find any records but some land records exists, of course the census, and the early history of Madison County (Andersontown). In Everett King's History of Maries county, he mentions that they seem to run back to Indiana...well, I think he meant Madison County, Indiana. Question...I have Susan Barnes (sister to Joseph and daughter of Henry & Nancy Barnes) 1st married M C Riley....I have seen trees that this could be Marida Columbus..census says Mary C Riley...anyway is this son of Charles Riley & Susannah Cain? Susan's 2nd husband was Dan Woods and 3rd husband was William T Williams I know that the Ehrharts were of German descendant from York County, Pennslyvania.
